At Ferren Family Counseling, we work with individuals of all ages, including children, teens, and adults. The cost of counseling services at Ferren Family Counseling ranges from $75 to $150 per session for clients paying out of pocket, depending on the licensure status of the therapist. We also offer a sliding scale fee for clients who meet specific criteria. If you have insurance, we accept various providers, and the cost of services will depend on your plan and coverage. Yes, we accept many insurance plans, including EAP benefits. For those without insurance, we offer affordable rates. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage for mental health/counseling services, as well as details on benefits and financial responsibility. Insurance benefits are determined by a contract between you and your insurance provider, and Ferren Family Counseling does not control these benefits. Our therapists are individually paneled with insurances, so we recommend verifying if the therapist you wish to see is in-network by contacting your insurance provider or calling our office.
Self-pay means therapy is entirely your own choice and under your control. You pay directly for services without going through insurance. This gives you more flexibility and privacy since we are not required to submit diagnostic codes to insurance companies. Many clients prefer this option because it allows them to maintain more control over their treatment and avoid restrictions on the types of services covered. If privacy or more control over your therapy is important to you, self-pay might be the best option.
When using insurance, we will submit claims on your behalf to your provider. Insurance companies often require a formal diagnosis, which becomes part of your medical record. This can influence the services covered, and in some cases, limit the type of therapy available based on your diagnosis and your provider's policies. It’s important to note that insurance companies may require pre-authorization for certain treatments or limit the number of sessions available. Please note that Ferren Family Counseling does not determine your insurance benefits. We recommend contacting your insurance carrier directly to understand what is covered, what is required for mental health services, and any limitations based on your diagnosis.
We accept a variety of insurance plans, including Aetna, Ambetter, BlueCare, BCBS, Cigna/ Evernorth, Curalinc, Humana, ESI, Lyra, Magellan, MedBen, Optum, TRICARE, UMR, and UnitedHealthcare.
The No Surprises Act is a federal law that protects clients from unexpected medical bills. For counseling, it requires us to provide uninsured or self-paying clients with a Good Faith Estimate of the expected costs of services before they begin. If your bill exceeds the estimate by $400 or more, you have the right to dispute the charges through the federal dispute resolution process. The process for disputing these charges is outlined in detail on the CMS site.
You can book an appointment with Ferren Family Counseling by calling our office or by filling out an online booking form on our website. Existing clients can update and review appointments through our Client Portal.
During your first session at Ferren Family Counseling, we will begin by discussing your reasons for seeking therapy and any goals you have for counseling. This initial session is a time for us to get to know each other, establish trust, and determine the best approach for your treatment. We will also go over important information such as confidentiality, our policies, and what to expect in future sessions. Please ensure that all initial paperwork is completed prior to your appointment to allow us to make the most of your time with your therapist.
We understand that sometimes schedules change, but we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Your session time is reserved specifically for you, and last-minute cancellations or no-shows can affect both your therapist and other clients who may need that time.
